2006 - jankowitz office and residential building - bech-kleinmacher - luxembourg

The location: a gentle slope, directly beside the local council offices – also redesigned and extended by HVP. In terms of its relationship to the M oselle one could speak of the “second row”: there is only a partial view of the river, as a four-storey residential building stands directly opposite, however the view of the vineyards is unobstructed. Out of the architecturally utterly uninteresting existing building – a car repair workshop with a showroom – two office and nine residential units have been made. T he offices and one apartment are situated at the front, towards the street; in the new building erected in the area of the former workshop and raised on columns (with car parking spaces below) there are a further two apartments, the others are located in the old building. The materials used are simple: essentially render and wood. T he melon yellow blinds place a striking accent. The outdoor areas are planted with bamboo. T he two-storey apartments in the extension, which lie partly above the level of the terrain, are particularly attractive. They are reached externally by a staircase and a footbridge (galvanised steel).
